He always has a backpack on him.
Mental/Personality Traits and Weaknesses/PhobiasHe was the proverbial loner in school and college. Lands in the 'exceptionally gifted' bracket on the IQ score sheet. Because he's so gifted in some areas, he's down right challenged in others.
He doesn't like the dark. If the power goes out, he will panic. He has trouble sleeping.
He is convinced that the earth is being watched and that mankind will be contacted very soon. But he doesn't talk about that too much. It's frowned upon.
Home, Haven and Occupation/HobbiesHis home is .. wait for it .. the basement of his parents townhome. However, Kalen set up an alternate 'base of operations' that he spends most of his time. He also has an 'off the grid' location that is secret that he calls the Pit. He must have a thing for basements because the Pit is located under a bank vault.
Recently one of his secondary homes was compromised by Big Brother, a rival hacker.
Another of his havens as yet uncompromised is at 505 W. 54th St. New York, NY.
He loves chess and other games that challenge him.
For a while he worked in a research capacity for a well known and highly reputable firm but finally left to be a private consultant (i.e. hacker). He has very special clients and confidentiality is his number one priority.
He has a number of alias':
one is McAllister (lives at 505 W. 54th St)
Skills, Talents and Education/TrainingIf it has an operating system, he can crack it.
His phone can do some seriously crazy shit when he puts his mind to it.
He almost failed high school then graduated at the top of his class from MIT. He was there six years but mastered multiple subjects including Computer science and Information systems, Engineering - Electrical and Electronic, Linguistics, and Mathematics.
Property, Pets and ToysHe has computers that NASA and Homelands security would love to get their hands on.
He does not have any living pets but he does have a pet rock. Please don't mess with the rock. It's very special to him. It is a geode that has been unbroken but scanned.
He has a number of mechanical friends that reside in his main haven. They range in size from a quarter to seven feet tall. Do not anger the watcher.
Friends, Enemies and General ContactsTo those who do not know he is a hacker, and that's most everyone, he is just that funny guy who gets his usual coffee every day at the same time. He carries a backpack and is very protective of it.
To those who know he is a hacker, the people who want to use him are his friends (Very good friends) and those who he has hacked are his enemy (very angry enemies). China really doesn't like him.
He is known by two different hacker aliases, Switch and Breaker. Some of his early work was done as Leo but he ditched that name when he was 15 and had successfully hacked the Pentagon.
Brief HistoryHis parents indulged him when he was young and encouraged him once it was realized that the bored young man was not being lazy, he was simply not being challenged. He graduated high school at thirteen and was in MIT by fourteen. His mother accompanied him as his guardian while he went through the different courses of study at MIT. His mother returned home when he was eighteen an allowed him to continue on for another two years. He graduated at the top of his class for the third time at the age of twenty then decided it was time to get a job.
Being curious, he started hacking systems when he was young and still a student at MIT. By the time he was 21, he had his haven established and was asked to teach at MIT. He declined the teaching opportunity and instead took a job at a major firm. He discovered the firm was dealing some bad business practices in South Africa and quit. Three weeks later the firm went bankrupt. Funny how that happened, huh?
He is still mostly a loner but he has gathered quite the interesting list of clients for his consulting. Some he likes, others he tolerates and yet others he can't shake even if he wants to.
